I see this in the music world also. I used to be an Ozzy Osbourne fan. Then I started to notice something, a constant theme. People distancing themselves from him. It turns out Sharon uses her power to make money, to keep people off of the radio, to do whatever it takes to sty on top. An example; Jake E Lee talked about this recently. He was recording his first record with Ozzy, having written all of the guitar parts. He kept asking about the contract so he could see what he would make for writing credit. Sharons minions kept telling him yeah, you will get credit. A moment after he finished recording the last riff, and they pulled out the contract giving Ozzy all writing credit, and said sign it, or your just out and they will use the recording anyway. What choice did he have. People are excited to play with Ozzy, until they steal material from the creators of the music, and they move on. By the way, Ozzy hasn't written anything I believe. He has riden on coat tails his entire career, and Sharon is the devil leading him, stealing from the people who make the music. There again, alone at the top.
I think it is good to strive sometimes, good to have success. With that, a humble attitude will get you far. to work "with" others, and not against them. One of the better stories I have heard, is of a man named John 5. He is an exceptional guitar player, knowing many styles of music. He grew up with money, so that was not what he wanted from playing guitar, he just loves to play. Currently in Rob Zombies band, he is doing what he lives. Ozzy (Sharon) attempted to get him as a guitar player, something almost every other guitarist would do to get to that level of fame. John 5 said NO. :). He was happy with where he was at, as he is probanly an actual part of a band, not an employee. I am not a Rob Zombie fan musically, but I love the relationship that Is in that band from interviews with John 5. Happiness over everything.
